As you can see the results are in, number 18 pipped the post by one. From memory after scanning this photo I think Matt from down the south coast of NSW owns this dog and number 17.

Can the owners please send me some details on each dog for interest sake. Breeds, hunting ability etc. Even though this was just a comp for the most appealing dog regardless of hunting ability.

Also can the winner please contact me re claiming the prize sponsored by Clynt from the Pig Dog Shop. (thanks Clynt)

The Winner (8 votes)

Butch the white & tan bull-Arab above, I got him off a bloke named Dave Edgeworth from Kempsey. He would weigh about 35kg and is not quite 2yo. He has been one of the easiest dogs I've owned to train and has a good nose off the ute & quad bike. I run him with a tracking collar on as he does range fairly wide at times. Is good natured and lets go when told to. He seems to be getting better all the time and hope he lasts a while yet.
The other red bitch (number 17) that was in the runners up was killed a while ago. She was my main dog for a few years and almost gave up hunting when I lost her. She finally met her match. I got her off a bloke who left her at my place to look after for a week and never came back? I still reckon she was the best dog I've ever owned and don't know how she lasted as long as she did (7yo). She could find a pig anywhere but would never make a sound. She was the reason I got tracking collars and started to use bailing type dogs with her. She was supposed to be bully/ridgeback but she never had a ridge, would have weighed 25kg. She originated from Proserpine. Her name was Dee-arna (I didn't name her).  Thanks Mick.

Bully (Number 47), is a bully/greyhound, he is the result of 25 odd years of breeding, he ways in at about 46 kgs, only hunts pigs on or off the truck, he is extremely tough not giving even an inch on the biggest of boars, he is just under 3 years old and has caught hundreds of pigs.
When this dog is wind scenting, you need to be very fit to keep up with him, must use tracking collars because he just does not bark.
Overall he is a great all round dog for stubble, and lignum never giving up and always getting his pig.
